My husband would say having cancer is like having your hair on fire, when your hair’s on fire that’s all you can think about, it’s your focus 24/7.

In October of 2009 I was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to my liver with a dozen tumors, Which meant I was not a candidate for surgery. The tumors were defined as Low grade neuroendocrine which affects one out of hundred thousand people.

During the time of my cancer I truly felt like I was a woman with her hair on fire and I needed to desperately find something to help me put the fire out.

The first thing I did was visit the internet which lasted all of ten minutes before switching gears.

Everything I read said I was going to die. If you look up the common cold on the internet it will probably tell you you’re going to die, and that was the last thing I wanted to hear. As it turned out I didn’t want to hear anything about cancer.

Not that I was in denial I just didn’t see the sense in hearing about the effects cancer has on the body or what I could expect from the disease.

What I wanted was answers to questions on how I could become healthy again.

I turned to the internet for nutritional cures and began buying anything and everything that made a claim to rid me of this dreaded disease.

There were herbs, tonics and potions and I bought them all.

It didn’t take very long for me to realize there are people out there that don’t mind preying on people who are ill for the sake of money.

I had to reevaluate my plan and bring people into my life that I trusted to help me sift through what was truth and what was shear nonsense.

I’ve heard it said it takes a small village to raise a child and I say it takes a small village to help someone deal with cancer.

There is so much knowledge that I gained though my experience with cancer, through books, professional people and the Bible.

This site is to offer all the information I learned without you having to spend the countless hours I, and many others have done to come with a plan for a person living with cancer.

Warning! What’s in Your Kitchen That Could be Causing Cancer?

The first thing you have to do when diagnosed with cancer or any illness is to start building your immune system.

Little did I know that most of the items in my home were toxic to me and my family. Processed foods, foods with additives, foods laced with pesticides and herbicides were all part of my daily diet.

So the first thing you need to do is go through your kitchen and purge it of all the things that are loaded with chemicals, preservatives, and sugar.

Sugar is the number one item that needs to be replaced in your kitchen. Sugar is like lighter fluid to cancer and illness and is in practically everything we consume today.                                                                

Stevia is a good replacement for sugar and can be found in most health food stores. However, my favorite is Sweet Perfection made from chicory root. It is 100% sugar free, contains fiber and tastes just like sugar. It also ranks zero on the glycemic index and is suitable for diabetics.

In addition to purging sugar, I highly endorse the use of organic vegetables over conventional ones. Vegetables today are sprayed with chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. With sprays come more sprays because the vegetables become more resistant to the pesticides and herbicides, requiring stronger chemicals.

They have actually modified our seed to be Roundup ready. In the past crops would die from the herbicide Roundup. Now they can spray strong herbicides, and the crops withstand the harsh chemicals.  If you cannot buy all of your vegetables organic, I would recommend buying at least the rooted vegetables like potatoes and onions, since they absorb the majority of chemicals.

Another important purge and replacement is the conventional chicken to free-range chicken. Most chickens today are pumped full of antibiotics and hormones, which have been known to cause cancer. In addition to the hormones and antibiotics chickens receive, they are also fed large amounts of corn because it is a cheap feed. God never intended chickens to eat only corn. Chickens are omnivores; they eat meat, bugs, worms, plants, seeds, and grains whenever they are able to roam free and find these things.

Free-range chickens also provide good nutritionally dense eggs. It would be wise not to choose vegetarian eggs. We get a lot of our protein from the worms, bugs and meat the chickens eat. Some labels are very misleading. You can buy chicken labeled organic in the grocery store, and if you do your research you will find that the chicken is being fed GMO (genetically modified organism) feed. Additionally,

If an egg is a vegetarian egg, that means the chicken kept in a place where it cannot gain access to the outdoors to consume what a chicken would normally eat.

Please don’t be fooled with labels that say cage-free. It simply means the chickens are kept in over-populated rooms, sitting in their own fecal matter with no sunlight, which is considered factory farming.

In my opinion, there is no other choice but free-range chickens, where the chickens are permitted to roam cage free and eat off the land. The same applies to the beef we eat. It is best to eat grass-fed beef from cows that graze.

Another very important replacement in your kitchen is the replacement of vegetable oil with coconut oil. The molecular structure of coconut oil does not change when heated, unlike most oils. It is good for many things, like helping your immune system, your heart, your skin, and it speeds up your metabolism allowing you to lose weight and giving you more energy. Basic Author

Tribute to a Friend

 The Bible says, “No one has greater love than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends.” And that’s just what my best friend did for me.

She gave a year of her life to help me win my battle over cancer.

Shortly after getting the news that I had pancreatic cancer, my best friend Linda came to visit me. The fearful distraught look on her face almost matched the pain and fear that I was experiencing. I wondered how she could have tapped into the depth of what I was going through and what I was feeling.

It only took a moment for me to realize that her love for me was so genuine and deep that it actually amazed me.  If cancer does one thing, it shows you who your true friends are and how much you are loved, and boy was I loved.

Her sympathy and compassion touched me profoundly, and she immediately waged war against the disease. Because of the shock and fear, I couldn’t even think about fighting. I could only feel a powerful sadness over leaving the people I loved so much.

Linda told me she was going to quit her job to help me. I tried to talk her out of it, but she kept assuring me that she was going to retire soon, just earlier now that I had gotten sick. She said that I needed her to take notes and keep records when the doctors spoke because my husband and I would be too distraught to perceive all that was going to be said.

She did a lot more than take notes. She never left my side; she was at every doctor’s appointment and every scan, and does so till this day. When I finally became operable and had my surgery, she drove from Fort Lauderdale to Miami every day and sat with me the entire day until I was well.

That was just the physical portion of what she did.

The unimaginable portion of what she did was that she owned the disease with me. The tears she cried for me when she was alone and the strength she showed when she was with me was more than anyone could ask of a friend.

Power of Green Drink

Eating your vegetables and greens will have an amazing effect on your mind and body. But according to most nutritionists, we would have to eat twelve servings of fruits and vegetables a day to get the nutrients our bodies crave and need. Most individuals are eating fewer than two servings a day. According to the Centers for Disease Control Prevention, only 26 percent of the nation’s adults eat vegetables three or more times a day.

Using a daily concentrated powdered green drink is essential. A good quality green drink will consist of concentrated vegetables, and grasses, such as wheat grass and barley grass.

Green drinks work to alkaline the body and help establish a proper pH (potential of hydrogen).  They also build the immune system, supply a large quantity of digestive enzymes, provide us with chlorophyll, give us vitamins and minerals, and green drinks add oxygen to the blood; which is especially important to cancer patients.

Restoring the pH balance in your body and allowing the body to become alkaline will help ward off disease. According to Dr. Stirling Silverman,

Over acidity, which can become a dangerous condition that weakens all body systems, is very common today. It gives rise to an internal environment conducive to disease, as opposed to a pH balanced environment which allows normal body function necessary for the body to resist disease. A healthy body maintains adequate alkaline reserves to meet emergency demands. When excess acids must be neutralized our alkaline reserves are depleted leaving the body in a weakened condition. A pH balanced diet, according to many experts, is a vital key to health maintenance.

You can check your pH with test strips purchased at most local stores. A healthy body pH should be 7.0 to 7.5.  If you already have a disease or illness, it will be hard to establish a proper pH balance; you will most likely be acidic. Medications will affect your pH and will cause you to be more acidic. Chemotherapy and radiation work well to shrink tumors and help treat cancer, but they also weaken the immune system and create an acidic environment. Although these drugs have an adverse effect on the pH levels, we must still do everything we can to build and preserve our bodies and keep our pH as alkaline as possible. Green drinks provide that alkalinity we need for our bodies to thrive.

There are many nutritionists and doctors who will differ in opinion on the subject of eating meat, but everyone will agree that there are many benefits to eating and juicing green vegetables and grasses.

After being diagnosed with cancer, I went to Moffitt Cancer Center for a second opinion. Upon my arrival I was given a stack of papers to fill out. One of those papers posed the question: “What are you doing to help yourself?” And one of the answers to choose from was “juicing wheatgrass.” I was impressed to see that doctors are recognizing the benefits of wheatgrass and its healing properties.

One reason wheatgrass or greens are good for cancer patients is that they contain chlorophyll. Because chlorophyll’s molecular structure is almost identical to hemoglobin (magnesium in chlorophyll and Iron in hemoglobin), it is sometimes referred to as the blood of the plant. Their similarity also lies in the fact that they both carry life-giving oxygen to the blood. Chlorophyll builds the blood, and it is the blood that sustains and builds your body.

As you increase your consumption of chlorophyll from green foods and green drinks, the quality and quantity of the red blood cells improve. Body Cleanse

One of the first things I did for my body after being diognosed with cancer was a body cleanse, which included a liver and colon cleanse.

A colon cleanse is done through a colonic treatment, also called colonic hydrotherapy, to remove any toxins from built up waste that are in the body. With the average diet consisting of processed foods, alcohol, high fats, and low fiber; there is a great deal of toxins produced in built up waste in the colon as well as toxins in the liver which can be flushed out by taking a liver cleanse consisting primarily milk thistle.  These toxins are responsible for many body imbalances which can lead to very serious health problems!

According to Oncologist MD, Douglas Brodie of Reno Nevada, cancer patients experiencing increased toxic stress during chemotherapy and radiation treatment can benefit from colonic hydrotherapy. He states “I have found over the years that cancer patients who are not doing well usually are toxic and not being cleansed”.

Any decrease of toxins on the liver, kidney and colon can help in strengthening the immune system. The average American diet includes less than a fraction of the fiber foods necessary to promote elimination of toxins from the body. Poor diet, improper food-combining, and lack of dietary fiber makes the maintenance of a healthy colon virtually impossible.

The best way to maintain a healthy colon is to eat a high fiber low fat diet, drink plenty of water, and exercise on a regular basis.  Water intake should be half of your body weight in ounces.

A liver cleanse is one of the best things you can do to enhance your body’s performance. Think of your liver as one large filter; everything you put into your body is filtered through your liver. It helps detoxify the chemicals you digest like medications, over the counter drugs, alcohol, smoking, preservatives, food hormones, and pesticides.

And even though I had a dozen tumors on my liver, I still had a full functioning liver and I wanted it to work to its fullest capacity.  Cleaning the liver is such an important part of the process to improve your body’s health because of its many functions. My Story

One major thing I discovered after being diagnosed with cancer was that everyone has an opinion and they all think that their right.

Finding yourself in a high stress situation where you need answers and you need them fast puts you in a state of confusion where you don’t have real clarity in any direction.

I spoke with renowned doctors from UM Sylvester in Miami and the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa who urged me to start the conventional method of Chemo Therapy

to battle my cancer right away. But when I visited the Hippocrates Health Center in West Palm Beach where they specialize in helping people with cancer, they  impressed upon me  that wheat grass, greens, and raw foods were the only way to go;  No meat, no dairy products.They are totally against chemo therapy and the wear and tear it has on the body.

In addition to the Hippocrates health center, I also spoke with well educated nutritionists who believe that grass fed meats, free range chicken and eggs, fermented dairy (kefir), and raw butter are all healing foods for the body. They disagreed with one another strongly but the one thing and maybe the only thing that each alternative view held was that chemo therapy is poison and should not be put into your body.

My family and best friend were holding to the conventional method and wanted to see me use the chemo therapy as my choice for battle.

As I listened to everyone’s views I became more distressed over the decisions that needed to be made.   I remember breaking down in tears over the stress of what to do and I had to regroup my self and get focused again; although they all had compelling arguments against chemo therapy, I was stage four and I did have a dozen tumors on my liver.

I went home that night and processed all the information I had received over the past couple of weeks  and prayed hard about what decision would be right for me, and I pulled all the knowledge from doctors, Hippocrates Center, nutritionist, family and friends and put together a plan, a plan that not everyone would agree with but a plan that I felt would be right for me.

That is what I feel everyone with an illness should do, its your body and your disease and its up to you on how you wish to deal with it.

My plan was as follows:

I decided to listen to the doctors and implement the chemo therapy to shrink my tumors.

I decided to listen to Hippocrates Center and juice wheat grass, greens, and raw foods to build my immune system.

I decided to listen to the nutritionist and use aloe vera, kefir, raw butter, free range eggs, and bone marrow soups. I did all these things to fight cancer and restore my body,

Not only to survive but to thrive.

Organic vs Conventionally Grown Foods

In 1971 the USDA issued data showing that poor nutrition is linked to all major health problems.

There is a definite relationship between what we eat and how we live, and I believe there is a heighten awareness with the public today knowing that what you are putting into your body is effecting the outcome of your life.

With one out of three people being diagnosed with cancer, and heart disease being the number one killer in America, many are re-evaluating their diets and making changes to improve their quality of life.

This awareness is bringing us T.V shows like food revolution, wonderful movies like food Inc., vegetables on the White House lawn, and organic sections in our grocery stores.

Surely it is a start and a very exciting one at that, but we still have a long way to go when it comes to educating ourselves about good nutrition.

Americans are demanding better food quality but is the USDA in agreement with what the growing majority believes is food quality?

Conventional vs. organic farming

The word “organic” refers to the way farmers grow and  process agricultural  products, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy products and meat. Organic farming practices are designed to encourage soil and water conservation and reduce pollution. Farmers who grow organic produce and meat don’t use conventional methods to fertilize, control weeds or prevent livestock disease. For example, rather than using chemical weedkillers, organic farmers conduct sophisticated crop rotations and spread mulch or manure to keep weeds at bay.

Here are other differences between conventional farming and organic farming:

Apply chemical fertilizers to promote plant growth. Apply natural fertilizers, such as manure or compost, to feed soil and plants.
Spray insecticides to reduce pests and disease. Use beneficial insects and birds, mating disruption or traps to reduce pests and disease.
Use chemical herbicides to manage weeds. Rotate crops, till, hand weed or mulch to manage weeds.
Give animals antibiotics, growth hormones and medications to prevent disease and spur growth. Give animals organic feed and allow them access to the outdoors. Use preventive measures — such as rotational grazing, a balanced diet and clean housing — to help minimize disease.


Organic food: Buy or bypass?

Many factors may influence your decision to buy — or not buy — organic food. Consider these factors:

  • Nutrition. No conclusive evidence shows that organic food is more nutritious than is conventionally grown food. And the USDA — even though it certifies organic food — doesn’t claim that these products are safer or more nutritious.
  • Quality and appearance. Organic foods meet the same quality and safety standards as conventional foods. The difference lies in how the food is produced, processed and handled. You may find that organic fruits and vegetables spoil faster because they aren’t treated with waxes or preservatives. Also, expect less-than-perfect appearances in some organic produce — odd shapes, varying colors and perhaps smaller sizes. In most cases, however, organic foods look identical to their conventional counterparts.
  • Pesticides. Conventional growers use pesticides to protect their crops from molds, insects and diseases. When farmers spray pesticides, this can leave residue on produce. Some people buy organic food to limit their exposure to these residues. Most experts agree, however, that the amount of pesticides found on fruits and vegetables poses a very small health risk.
  • Cost. Most organic food costs more than conventional food products. Higher prices are due to more expensive farming practices, tighter government regulations and lower crop yields. Because organic farmers don’t use herbicides or pesticides, many management tools that control weeds and pests are labor intensive. For example, organic growers may hand weed vegetables to control weeds, and you may end up paying more for these vegetables.

The USDA says there is  no conclusive evidence that organic food is more nutritious than is conventionally grown food. And the USDA, even though it certifies organic food,  doesn’t claim that these products are safer or more nutritious”


If there is no difference in the quality of naturally grown foods and foods that are laced with all the things conventional farmers are using, than why is our society so sick with disease? And why are Americans spending over $287 billion dollars on prescription drugs each year?

According to the USDA” toxin avoidance can prevent up to 90 percent of cancers”.  In my opinion, chemicals, insecticides, growth hormones, antibiotics and medications are toxic to the body and have a profound effect to one’s health.

Wheatgrass – How it works


Benefits of Wheatgrass

If we look at oxygen as a bullet to kill cancer cells, then we should look at wheatgrass as a shotgun blast at treating cancer.

The number of ways it deals with cancer is incredible. First of all it contains chlorophyll, which has almost the same molecular structure as hemoglobin. Chlorophyll increases hemoglobin production, meaning more oxygen gets to the cancer. Selenium and laetrile are also in wheatgrass, both are anticancer. Chlorophyll and selenium also help build the immunity system. Furthermore, wheatgrass is one of the most alkaline foods known to mankind.

Wheatgrass contains at least 13 vitamins (several are antioxidants), including B12, many minerals and trace elements, and all 20 amino acids. It also contains the hormone abscisic acid and over 30 other enzymes

  • “In a study reported in the journal Mutation Research comparing the anticancer effect of chlorophyll to beta-carotene, and vitamins A, C and E, chlorophyll was proven to be a more effective antimutagen than any of them.”

The effects of this wheatgrass juice on the diseased ororganism are twofold, first it provides an optimal nutritional environment for the healing process and second, it catalyses a detoxification process which increases the elimination of accumulated internal waste which causes disease by autointoxication.

Let us examine more closely each of these two Processes:

Scientific analysis has demonstrated that grass grown from wheat is a perfectly complete food in itself, capable of sustaining life in a healthy way.
Dr. G.H Earp Thomas, a soil expert at the Bloomfield Laboratories in Massachusetts, isolated over 100 elements, including all the known minerals, from wheatgrass. His calculations indicate that 15lbs of fresh wheatgrass is equivalent in nutritional value to 350lbs of choicest vegetables.

As toxins are eliminated, the body is cleansed and brought back to its natural state of health.

All in all, wheatgrass juice is a potent food/medicine that has many uses.

Chlorophyll is the “blood” of the plant. It is the protein in plant life that gives it its distinctive green or purple color. When compared to a molecule of hemoglobin, the oxygen carrier in human blood, chlorophyll is almost identical.One of chlorophylls more important functions is to oxygenate the blood stream.

In his book, The Cause And Prevention Of Cancer, Dr. Otto Warburg, winner of a Nobel prize for physiology and medicine (1931) concluded that oxygen deprivation was a major cause of cancer and and that with a steady blood supply of oxygen to all the cells, cancer could be prevented indefinitely.

But without first eliminating causes of oxygen deprivation (such as smoking, high fat and high protein cooked foods, alcohol, drugs, poor breathing, and sedentary habits) any attempt to oxygenate the blood will fail, so we must put renewed oxygen into the blood stream to effect regeneration.
Breathing exercises, walking and diet are the safest ways to do this.
As for diet, all fresh raw vegetables, fruits, sprouts and greens, especially wheatgrass, have oxygen contained in the liquid.
When we eat, or drink or juice and drink these foods, our blood supply of oxygen increases.

By taking a percentage of green foods and juices every day, especially wheatgrass, you can add vital nutrients such as minerals, enzymes, vitamins, oxygen, and protein to your blood. Wheatgrass is baby wheat, it can be grown at home and is fast becoming a highly effective way of eliminating internal waste from the body. This cleansing allows the proper absorption of nutritious foods.

Most wheat allergies are due to the gluten found in the wheatberry, but wheatgrass is cut before the plant forms a grain (berry) and therefore has no gluten. It is an excellent addition to the diet of a person with allergies.

Wheatgrass distributors and health-food advocates claim that it is practically a fountain of youth and has numerous health benefits, such as:

neutralizing toxins and carcinogens in the body, improving blood sugar disorders
helping prevent tooth decay, increasing hemoglobin production
improving digestion, reducing high blood pressure, aiding in the prevention and curing of cancer

Wheatgrass is grown through a process known as sprouting. Sprouts are “complete foods” because they contain all other essential dietary nutrients.

The nutrients in wheatgrass juice are completely assimilated by the human body in 20 minutes. For this reason sprouts are “quick energy” foods. Wheat sprouts contain four times more folic acid, and six times more Vitamin C, than unsprouted wheat or ordinary grass.

Wheatgrass juice benefits the blood cells, bones, glands, hair, kidneys, liver, muscles, spleen, teeth, and other body parts. Wheatgrass juice protects the lungs and blood from air and water pollution, cigarette smoke, toxins, and heavy metals.

Wheat grass has only about 10-15 calories per teaspoon. It has no fat or cholesterol. It has nearly a gram of protein per teaspoon.

There are four other special components of wheat grass, which make it particularly valuable.

SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE (SOD), (an anti-cancer factor): There are three enzymes known to have significant anti-oxidant activity. One of these is Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), which is present in wheatgrass.

It has been found that cancerous cells have a deficiency or a complete lack of SOD. So, if you supplement your diet with wheatgrass you will almost certainly be helping your body to avoid, or deal with, cancerous conditions. Anti-oxidants have the ability to mop up free radicals and so reduce or avoid cell mutation. Mutation is part of the first stage of cancer formation.

The more anti-oxidants we have in our system, the faster the free radicals can be safely de-activated. So, anti-oxidants are an ‘anti-aging’ and health-promoting influence. They reduce cell mutations, artery damage, skin wrinkles, and other changes indicative of aging.


This is a ‘gluco-protein’ present in wheat grass, which has three main properties:

Firstly, it appears to act in a way similar to anti-oxidants as far as cell mutations are concerned. It stimulates the renewal of RNA and DNA – the creative matter of the body. This means that cell deterioration and mutation will be slowed down or avoided. Therefore, there will probably be benefits from using wheatgrass to avoid – or even during – degenerative diseases.

Secondly, it appears to reduce inflammation – some say in a more powerful way than cortisone (and without the side-effects, of course). Some remarkable cures have been observed with wheatgrass for people with inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

A third property of P4D1, is that it is also thought to be able to help the body attack cancer cells, by helping to make the walls of the cancerous cells more open to attack by the body’s white blood cells. This adds to the anti-cancer properties of SOD (see above).


These are a combination of complex and simple sugars which appear to stimulate the body’s repair mechanisms. Enhancing these mechanisms is important, because the body is constantly repairing and replacing damaged cells. If you can do this better, it means you will ‘age’ better. Muco-polysaccharides appear to have a particular affinity to help repair damaged heart and artery tissue.

Spirulina also contains muco-polysaccharides, by the way; it is these, which form the cell walls of spirulina, rather than the much tougher cellulose, which normally forms the cell walls of plants.


Chlorophyll is the remarkable substance to which we all owe our lives. This is because chlorophyll has the ability to capture the sun’s energy and lock it into plants in such a way that we can use it to sustain our own lives.

Chemically, chlorophyll is almost identical to hemoglobin – the substance which transports oxygen from the Lungs to the tissues of the body. Aloe vera is one of the only known natural vegetarian sources of Vitamin B12, and it contains many minerals vital to the growth process and healthy function of all the body’s systems. Numerous studies worldwide indicate that aloe vera is a general tonic for the immune system, helping it to fight illness of all kinds. Various research studies are underway to explore the potential of aloe vera components to boost immunity and combat the HIV virus, and to treat certain types of cancer (particularly leukemia). It may even have a role to play in managing diabetes.

Over 200 worldwide scientific research papers have been published on the effects of Aloe vera. The three main categories of research include anti-inflammatory, anti- bacterial, and anti-viral actions of Aloe vera. The juice is said to soothe digestive tract irritations such as colitis, ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome. Aloe’s ability to encourage the release of pepsin (a gastric juice enzyme necessary for digestion) when the stomach is full is a possible reason for its ulcer-healing effects (Journal of the American Osteopathic Society, 1963, vol.62). In one study, oral use of Aloe for six months helped mitigate asthma symptoms in almost half of the participants. Eleven of twenty-seven patients studied who drank Aloe reported feeling better at the end of the study. Researchers think that results might be due to stimulation of the immune system, as well as naturally occurring anti-inflammatory agents in Aloe vera.

In 1994, the US Food and Drug Administration approved Aloe vera for the treatment of HIV. On-going studies worldwide show that Aloe taken in highly concentrated doses can stimulate the production of white blood cells that may help fight viruses and also tumours.

Aloe vera contains protein, calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamins A, B12 and E, essential fatty acids and is naturally rich in:

Vitamin C which helps maintain tone of blood vessels and promotes good circulation and is essential to the health of the adrenal gland which supports our body in times of stress.

Animal studies and anecdotal reports claim that drinking Aloe vera juice or taking it as a tablet or capsule can reduce swelling and inflammation in arthritic joints. Drinking Aloe vera juice may also help those asthmatic patients who are not dependent on cortico-steroids.

In 1997, University of San Antonio researcher Jeremiah Herlihy, Ph.D., conducted a study to observe any negative effects of drinking Aloe daily. Rather than exhibiting negative effects, however, test animals receiving daily Aloe showed a remarkable reduction in leukemia, heart disease, and kidney disease. Dr. Herlihy concluded, “We found no indication of harm done to the rats even at high levels.” In fact, the Aloe-drinking animals actually lived 25 percent longer than those in the control group (IASC Conference, Texas, 1997).

There is no single ingredient that makes Aloe vera potent and healthful. Researcher Robert Davis, Ph.D., an endocrinologist-biologist, explains that fifteen different compound groups of nutrients work together to make the plant effective. This means that Aloe vera’s effects cannot be synthesized easily in a laboratory. On the upside, this makes the plant useful across a wide spectrum of circumstances. And because the various elements that make Aloe effective are nutrients rather than drugs, Aloe juice may complement medical treatments. In fact some cancer patients state that Aloe vera seems to reduce nausea, increase energy, and may help to minimize low blood counts caused by chemotherapy or radiation.
